Dan Pate, born 8/31/78 in Memphis, TN, moved to Sewanee, TN at the age of sixteen, where he took his first art classes in ceramics at St. Andrews-Sewanee high school. As a sophomore at the University of the South in Sewanee, he majored in Studio Art after taking courses in painting, drawing and sculpture. In 2000, he received a B.A. in Studio Art with an emphasis in oil painting. After graduating, Dan moved to Dornach, Switzerland where he lived for the next two years; further studying drawing and painting at the private neueKUNSTschule Basel, an anthroposophical painting school located in Basel, Switzerland (http://www.neuekunstschule.ch/). He now exhibits in the Eastern U.S.
